The second part of additional training in community nursing was held in Trebinje for 24 nurses from 11 primary health care centers: Bileca, Ljubinje, Nevesinje, Gacko, Foca, Istocno Sarajevo, Rudo, Berkovici, Ugljevik, Petrovo and Lopare.

During the six-day program, participants further improved their theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of community nursing, with a special focus on improving the quality of service provision in home settings, strengthening professional competencies and developing modern work approaches in local communities.

The training program included professional lectures, interactive workshops and exchange of experiences from everyday practice, which enabled participants to acquire new knowledge, but also to jointly consider the challenges they face in home visits. The special importance of such training is reflected in connecting healthcare professionals from different places and strengthening mutual professional cooperation.

During the training, the topics: chronic disease management, rehabilitation, emergencies, public health, infectious diseases, mental health and protection of mothers and newborn were covered. Additional attention was given to planning promotional and preventive activities tailored to the needs of local communities, in order to strengthen population disease prevention and health preservation.

Through work in small groups and practical exercises, participants had the opportunity to develop concrete solutions applicable in everyday work, especially in the segment of nursing care in patients’ homes and support to their families.

Upon completion of the training, participants will start applying the acquired knowledge in their institutions, aiming to improve the availability and quality of nursing care, as well as further develop community nursing in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Additional training in community nursing is implemented as a part of the activities focused at strengthening nurses’ competencies and improving health services in line with the modern needs of the population.
