Majda Hamzic, Mostar

Second cycle of nursing studies at the Nursing Faculty in Mostar
Head Nurse of the Cantonal Hospital “Dr Safet Mujic” Mostar

The one who chooses this profession must really love it in the first place. Empathy is considered one of the most beautiful human traits. Unfortunately, it does not exist in many people, but it must exist in nurses.

During the second cycle of nursing studies, I significantly improved my communication skills and developed better managerial skills in the area of healthcare. My professional plan is to remain at my current job. Our profession is such that it requires lifelong training and learning, because there is always room for improvement.

The Strengthening Nursing in BIH project has done a lot in the area of nurse education in BIH. I speak from personal experience as I was a member of the working group for revision of curriculum and a trainee at the training of clinical skills mentors. Undoubtedly, certain changes in the nurse education are still needed, such as a greater emphasis on clinical practice, more nurse lecturers and a greater focus on the nursing care.
