Mirna Radman, Vitez

Second cycle of nursing studies at the Nursing Faculty in Mostar, currently unemployed

For me, this profession is not only a job but a noble vocation that gives me the chance to take care of, assist and encourage the sick in difficult times. Although many times I heard that it is difficult and it "does not pay off", I didn't give up. A smile I got from a patient during my first clinical practice just reconfirmed my decision to advance with my studies.

I think knowledge and skills must be continuously upgraded during the entire professional life. Currently, I am in pursuing my master’s degree in health care studies.

I have completed my internship at the Primary Health Care Center Vitez and I am currently looking for a job. My wish is to remain in BIH and serve and help the citizens of my town. My intention is to actively advocate for nurses’ rights and participate in strengthening nursing in BIH, so that BIH can reach the level of other developed European countries.

Speaking from my experience, I reckon it is necessary to have more hours of practical training during nurse education in order to adequately develop certain skills. In general, I think there is a need to further improve and support nurse education. Also, many health care facilities are not adequately equipped and staff lack opportunities for additional training.
