Practical training for nurses from all the hospitals in Republika Srpska on how to register in the Nursing Registry was successfully
completed in Jahorina. This training was an important step towards the modernization and strengthening of the nursing profession, providing the opportunity to the participants to become thoroughly acquainted with the procedures, technical requirements and practical aspects of the Registry.

The training was jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska and Fami Foundation, under Strengthening Nursing in Bosnia and Herzegovina project, continuously supported by the Government of Switzerland. Through this project the quality of health care has been improved, the professional status of nurses has been strengthened and standards have been developed in line with international practice.

The Nursing Registry is a unique information system for recording and monitoring the nursing workforce in Republika Srpska. It is intended for collection and processing data about nurse. Its importance is reflected in the improvement of the nursing profession, as well as in planning and strategic development of the health system. A centralized database allows for staff monitoring, needs analysis and the adoption of policies that directly affect the quality of care and patient safety.

During the training, the participants mastered the procedure of accurate and efficient data entry through practical exercises and use of software. This enabled them to work independently in the system and contribute with the complete and up-to-date information entry in the Registry.

This activity represents another significant segment of Strengthening Nursing in Bosnia and Herzegovina project, with ultimate goal to strengthen nurses' competencies, improve working conditions and raise health care standards throughout the country.
