The implementation of activities on improving community nursing in eight municipalities and cities of the Una-Sana Canton has officially begun in Bihac.

This significant step forward is a continuation of the joint efforts of the relevant institutions and health facilities in strengthening the primary health care system, and thus the quality of citizens' lives.

A plan of joint activities was presented at the meeting attended by the Minister of Health, Labor and Social Policy of the Una-Sana Canton. Representatives of the primary health care centers, Public Health Institute and Health Insurance Fund also participated in the discussion, emphasizing the importance of a multi-sectoral approach and cooperation of all relevant stakeholders.

The project goal is to increase the availability, quality and comprehensiveness of nursing services to all citizens, especially to vulnerable and socially excluded categories of the population of Bihac, Buzim, Bosanski Petrovac, Sanski Most, Velika Kladusa, Kljuc, Cazin and Bosanska Krupa.

The additional education for nurses from these primary health care centers will be provided at the Educational Center of the Primary Health Care Center Bihac, recently approved by the Federal Ministry of Health. This institution now has the capacity to develop and implement professional development programs that will contribute to strengthening the professional competencies of healthcare professionals.

Strengthening community nursing and training health professionals are expected to raise community nursing to a higher level, with a special emphasis on preventive health care, support for the elderly, chronically ill and families in rural areas.

The activities that have been agreed upon represent an important step in modernizing the healthcare system of Una-Sana Canton and focusing on the needs of the citizens.
