During the three-day training, 15 nurses from 11 health institutions in Republika Srpska participated in the first part of the training on the basics of adult learning. The main goal is to train the trainers in community nursing.
The training goal was to develop the knowledge and skills required for quality planning and implementation of educational processes, with a particular focus on the adult learning. Through nine thematically related teaching modules, participants were introduced the principles of the adult learning approach, preparation and implementation of training, teaching methods and forms of work, use of teaching aids, defining learning outcomes, managing group dynamics, evaluating knowledge and motivating nurses in the education process.
The training was implemented in an interactive format, with participants being actively involved, exchange of experiences and practical examples from everyday work in healthcare institutions. Special emphasis was placed on the role of nurses as tutors - both within healthcare teams and in working with patients and the local community.
The training was provided by Branka Sladojevic, Head of the Department for Family and Child Welfare at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska, and Drazenko Jorgic, Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka. Their many years of experience in the field of education and work with adults contributed to the quality and practical value of the training.
The second part of the training is planned in 15 days when participants will have the opportunity to practically demonstrate the acquired knowledge through the preparation and presentation of their own teaching units, with professional feedback from the trainers.
The ultimate goal of this activity is to build and strengthen nurses’ teaching capacities to be able to more efficiently implement educational processes in their healthcare institutions and further improve the quality of training for their colleagues and health information for patients.
