Another round of additional training in community nursing, organized for a new group of nurses from Republika Srpska, was successfully completed in Pale. This program represents an important step towards strengthening the capacity of health professionals and improving the quality of health care at the local level.
During 11 days, that is, 70 hours of lectures, demonstrations of skills, practical exercises, interactive workshops and discussions, participants had the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills that are crucial for the provision of comprehensive community nursing services. The training was supported by 20 lecturers - representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska and healthcare institutions from all health care levels.
The training program encompassed 34 teaching units, with a special focus on the exchange of experiences among participants, the use of good practice examples and strengthening coordination with support services in local communities. This approach enabled participants to link theoretical knowledge with real situations in practice, strengthening them further for everyday work in their communities.
The topics covered were diverse and adapted to the current needs of the healthcare sector, including medical emergencies, patient rehabilitation, promotion of occupational safety, importance of social welfare and the principles of gender equality in the healthcare system.
A special significance in the program was given to the topic violence against nurses, and the lecture given by an international expert, Roswitha Koch. Using examples of good practice from abroad, she stressed the importance of recognizing violence in the workplace, building protection mechanisms, as well as creating a safe and supportive environment for all healthcare professionals.
As part of the training, the participants also began developing health promotion programs, which, with professional mentors’ support, will be further developed and tailored to the needs of the communities they provide the services at. These programs will play an important role in health literacy expansion, diseases prevention and healthy lifestyles promotion among the population.
This round of additional training is another significant step towards improving community nursing, strengthening the role of nurses and creating conditions for provision of better quality, more accessible and more humane health care to all citizens of Republika Srpska.
Fami Foundation, as well as all partners involved in the implementation of the training, congratulated to all participants on successfully completing the program, their dedication and desire to actively contribute to the development of the health sector.
